Fluffy is growing!


We found Fluffy last Friday, 8th March. It was still a caterpillar then. Initially, we were still worried that  we were not giving it the correct food when it did not seem to be active. To our surprise, it turned into a pupa over the weekend! It is still currently at the 3rd stage of its life cycle before it becomes a butterfly. How long will it take to become a butterfly? Would it be a moth instead? We wonder...

    Maybe!!?? What do you mean by we found Fluffy ?? I thought that Fluffy was always in the container and Fluffly is so CUTE !!!!!!!!!!

      You did not know that Fluffly was found by the cleaner and the cleaner gave it to Jing Kai-_-#

    I think Fluffly is a rare specie of caterpillar because it is fluffly and most of the caterpillar are spiky & looks slimey but Fluffly does not look like that^_^

    Ms.Zhou,the caterpillar in the life cycle of a butterfly is slimy but the caterpillar in the life cycle of a moth is cute and fluffy just like Fluffy,i wonder why?

      Jin Kai said that Fluffy flew out already . So it is not dead . But is it really a moth ?

      Well, there are several ways to distinguish a moth from a butterfly and one way is to observe its protective covering in its pupae stage. Do you remember that Fluffy was wrapped in a silk covering? Read the following and see if you could answer your own question, Bernice. =)

      Cocoon/Chrysalis:
      Cocoons and chrysalides are protective coverings for the pupa. The pupa is the intermediate stage between the larva and adult. A moth makes a cocoon, which is wrapped in a silk covering. A butterfly makes a chrysalis, which is hard, smooth and has no silk covering.

      Maybe Fluffy was on the floor and the cleaner saw a caterpillar and maybe the day before the cleaner saw Jin Kai taking Fluffy so the cleaner just pick Fluffy up and gave it to Jin Kai

    No NO NO!It is actually like this,the cleaner found it in a bush with small leaves and put it in a container then he ask Jin Kai want the caterpillar a not.then Jin kai say yes then he gifted jin kai the caterpillar.

      Thank you, Rich. I finally know how Fluffy came about! So it was the cleaner who found Fluffy in the bushes and put it into a container. He asked Jin Kai whether he wanted the caterpillar and Jin Kai agreed. Therefore, the cleaner gave the caterpillar to Jin Kai.

      We should thank the cleaner, shouldn't we?

      Yes, We should thank the cleaner but there are so many cleaners in this school. Which one should we thank ?? And Rich , it is give the caterpillar to Jin Kai not gifted jin kai the caterpillar.
